Introducing "Taïno Arrowukas Woman" - A Captivating Artwork Celebrating Taíno Culture.

Step into the vibrant world of the Taíno people with our extraordinary painting titled "Taïno Arrowukas Woman" by :Noble-Derby :LeMoore. This stunning artwork, meticulously crafted on silver screen and birch wood, portrays a Taíno woman in Ayiti (Haiti) in 1490, offering a refreshing and positive perspective on their rich cultural heritage.

We can see the Taïno Woman standing close to a tree near the sea, and holding a grey-crowned palm-tanager bird. Painting inspired by the controversial Jean-Gabriel Stedman’s drawing. He had a pejorative view of the natives. I wanted to paint a scene in a more positive light. I wanted to imagine a scene before 1492, of a normal day on the island of Ayiti Kiskeya Boyo, which comprises Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

The Taíno people are native habitants of the Caribbean islands, specifically the Greater Antilles region, which includes present-day Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), and Puerto Rico. They are also present in the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Taíno civilization thrived in the Caribbean prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492.

Immerse yourself in a scene that transports you back in time to a normal day on the captivating island of Ayiti Kiskeya Boyo, painted with intricate details and vibrant tones. Witness the Taíno Woman standing gracefully near the sea, surrounded by lush greenery, and holding a grey-crowned palm-tanager bird, symbolizing the harmony between nature and mankind.

The Taíno civilization, which thrived in the Caribbean before the arrival of Christopher Columbus, left an indelible mark on the region's history and culture. By owning this artwork, you honor and celebrate the Taíno people's legacy, shedding light on their contributions and challenging historical biases.

Inspired by the controversial Jean-Gabriel Stedman's drawing, this painting reimagines the scene in a more positive light. It presents a powerful counter-narrative, focusing on the beauty, strength, and daily lives of the Taíno people, highlighting their deep connection to the land and their vibrant cultural traditions.

Crafted with utmost precision and care, "Taïno Arrowukas Woman" is a testament to the artist's skill and dedication. The use of silver screen on birch wood adds a touch of elegance and uniqueness to the artwork, making it a true collector's item.
